by S. Michael Downs
Into the void I launch these words
Adrift in a sea of souls
Like leaves of a fallen tree
They live, die and nourish again
new growth from the void
springs eternal the love and anger
the hope and frustration.
Into the void I launch these words
To know that I am
To feel that someone hears
In hope of a connection of spirit
To escape the narrow and the common
To Think the same thoughts
To mark another with a spark
To say yes, there are others in the void
Beyond the blackness
the light of stars
and wonder about the mystery of us all
