Introductions Poem by Stan Rodriguez

Introductions

Introductions always seem to run the same

Cloned and scripted—we smile
saying our best hellos "How do you do"

Lines passed down from some old and ancient place
said and started by some shadow
we can't remember or even care less about.

Introductions are the first meeting of the eyes
the voice of who we are or want to be

So, let's refine that moment if we can
and speak of the things we really want to say.

Should you look good enough to eat
I'll tell you so or better yet
to lay with I'll invite you to share
your inner most with me

And should you want to kiss my thighs
then please begin.

Instead of echoing lines we have so many times,
rehearsed.
