Invaded Darkness Poem by Lisa Ann Smallwood

Invaded Darkness

consumed with fear shackled in a cold dark prison
stench of envy, pride and hatred
faces twisted mutilated beyond comprehension
tale of sorrows left unspoken

hiding in a dreaded mindless state
fear of love, In love with hate
reliving the stabbing moment when
the love would leave and never come again

no more tears to cry from desiccant eyes
Hollow soul so cold a barren
loathing soaking in the venom
a cloak of chain maille to hide your vexation

the spinning wheel of the carbide stone
sharpens the weapon of which you own
a blade a tongue of the sharpest steel
from which hostile words and malice spill

when out of the corner of thine eye
a phosphorescent light did shine
with hair of Gold and locks of curls
how could she invade your world

instinct of flight was quickly vanquished
the smell of sweetness consumed you briefly
you turned and fled your sight was red
you heart pounding in your chest

and when you thought that she has gone
upon your chest she rest
frozen in your state of horror
how does this maiden glow

She looks at you her face speaks volumes
her heart you clearly see
you run and hide and banish her
but how she follows thee

how can the light shine and sweet smell follow
your body seems to melt
and the colors of the walls and floors
start to show them selves

a glimpse in the mirror reveals a face
no longer torn and tattered
with eyes of Blue just like the sea
a shining tear does glisten

she comes again this time with song
her glowing light relentless
what could she want from this hardened heart
so dark and somewhat twisted

so long hidden under the cloak of hatred and of anguish
how could she see beneath the beast
the man that once was there
what power does she hold within her golden locks of hair
