It Happens Once Every Few Centuries Poem by Raymond Farrell

It Happens Once Every Few Centuries

It happens
once every few centuries
and this is the week
Saturn and Jupiter
are more closely aligned
than they have been
in 800 years
so I went out
at the appropriate time
on a cold December evening
to gaze up
into the Southwest sky
only to see
a layer of thick clouds
it was disappointing
but I still have
a warm fire
to return to.
