It Is Only The Privileged Poem by Francis Duggan

It Is Only The Privileged

Such small things that news headlines can be about
Due to the birth of a royal baby the daily papers are sold out
Whilst thousands of people are dying of malnutrition in the big World out there
Inequality among humanity is rife everywhere
That we are all born as equal some like to believe
Some who in their thinking are honourable but in their thoughts themselves only deceive
Rank and class distinction are rampant in the social divide
In a World where by circumstance of birth millions of people of a fair go in life are denied
So many poor people in life doing it tough
Hungry and homeless and at night sleeping rough
So much for equality as some like to say
Since there is no such a thing in the Human World of today
The birth of a baby celebrated Worldwide
It is only the privileged who have god on their side
