You and I have known each other for years,
In that time, you've seen me in tears,
Smiling, and happy as can be,
But then cold, moping about miserably.

You've always been such a great friend,
I never want that to end.
But now you and I are more than that,
No one would have ever believed that.

Despite it all, it seems to me,
That you're still just a friend to me.
This doesn't feel natural, this doesn't feel right,
I don't feel like I should be holding you tight.

You're just a friend to me,
I tried to fool myself, and I'm sorry.
I want us to be close, our futures are bright,
But this just doesn't feel right.
