It's Just A Dream Inside A Dream Poem by Krista Lyons

It's Just A Dream Inside A Dream

Ink on her fingers

Dried tears on her face

She neatly folds up the letter

And tucks it in place.

On the bed side table

Next to Where he sleeps at night

So when he wakes up tomorrow

It’s the first thing in sight.

A letter that shows

Love and care

But she knows she’s not worth being his

There’s someone better out there.

Better for him

Even in his darkest days

But forever in her heart

That beautiful boy will stay.

She packs up her bags

Holds her necklace in her hand

She whispers quietly to no one

“I love him but they don’t understand.”

Walks quietly out of

The wooden door

Falls to her knees

Breaks down on the floor.

She struggles to her feet

That’s when she meets his eyes

And she notices he’s shaking

She can hear his silent cries.

His silent cries to stay

To get past what people say

He wraps her in his arms

Whispers “all will be okay.'
Little did you know

She woke up from that dream

Rolled over to look at

The rest of her team.

Her team, it's her love

Who will always be mr.right

But that was another dream

When she woke up at night.
