It Wasn't That Long Ago

It wasn't that long ago I used to smile
It wasn't that long ago I wasn't crying myself to sleep every night
It wasn't that long ago I never had these nightmares
It wasn't that long ago I lost the true me

It wasn't that long ago I saw your smile, your true smile
It wasn't that long ago I heard you laugh
It wasn't that long ago I saw that bright spark in your eyes
It wasn't that long ago I saw the love in your eyes for your soul mate

It wasn't that long ago I saw your heart break
It wasn't that long ago I heard you happy with who you are
It wasn't that long ago I saw you truly happy
It wasn't that long ago I heard you truly proud of who you are

It wasn't that long ago I saw you almost in tears
It wasn't that long ago I saw you being shy
It wasn't that long ago I saw you try not to explode from anger
It wasn't that long ago I tried to make you see reason

It wasn't that long ago I didn't know you
It wasn't that long ago I saw you walk away from a fight
It wasn't that long ago I heard you say that you wanted to die
It wasn't that long ago I told you the real truth

It wasn't that long ago I first saw you in my English class
It wasn't that long ago I saw you pissed off
It wasn't that long ago I heard my sister tell me that she loves you
It wasn't that long ago I started to fully trust you

It wasn't that long ago I first meet you
It wasn't that long ago I found out about my own feelings for you
It wasn't that long ago I realised that I could calm you down
It wasn't that long ago I realised that it would be easier to leave you behind

It wasn't that long ago I saw you smile and mean it
It wasn't that long ago I first realised I classified you as a brother
It wasn't that long ago I told you almost every secret I have
It wasn't that long ago I heard you stick up for me

It wasn't that long ago I watched you leave
It wasn't that long ago I watched you get out of this hell hole
It wasn't that long ago I said I miss you
It wasn't that long ago I saw you cry

It wasn't that long ago I saw your innocent face
It wasn't that long ago I heard your angered grace
It wasn't that long ago I watched you blush at the hangouts devilish talk
It wasn't that long ago I heard you call me a sister

I swear it wasn't that long ago
I swear on my life
Yet it feels like it was millennia ago
An eternity that I swear it wasn't that long ago

I wasn't that long ago, but you remember it like yesterday. We all feel like this sometimes. Beautiful, I like this. (Report) Reply

When the hours of Day are numbered,
And the voices of the Night
Wake the better soul, that slumbered,
To a holy, calm delight;

Ere the evening lamps are lighted,
