J J Lehane Poem by Francis Duggan

J J Lehane

By those who knew and loved him his praises will be sung
J J Lehane from Minor Row the reaper took him young
So witty and so humorous his type of person rare
And one exactly like him you won't find anywhere.

He was as nice a person as one could wish to meet
And he was loved by so many in Duhallow and Millstreet
The good die young in J J's case it surely does apply
But these larger than life characters in memory never die.

He made so many friendships in his too brief life span
For J J he was likeable a not hard to like man
His humor was infectious 'tis sad to think he's gone
But happy memories of such a character will keep us laughing on.

The reaper took him early he did not live to grow old
But it can be said about him that he was as 'good as gold'
In Millstreet and Duhallow his was a well loved face
And sad to think he's gone forever and none to take his place.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I was reminiscing about a few things that happened during my secondary school years and while JJ was a few years ahead of me in school Mick Lehane was in my class. I just googled JJ Lehane and I'm shocked and saddened to see that both have passed. However, this is a lovely way to be remembered and I fondly remember how JJ & Mick often made me laugh..... when I needed it more than anyone knew....RIP
