Jack And Neal. Poem by dave lessard

Jack And Neal.

Rating: 5.0

Jack and Neal were an odd pair
a mad writer and a car thief
but they had words to share
however long or brief.

I was on the road in fifty-seven
almost went from coast-to-coast
from desert to my old green heaven
the open highway, my old host.

His book was in my back pocket
(I had a ton of time to read)
caught a ride in an '88 Rocket
man, that car had awesome speed.

Jack and Neal, those crazy two
made me laugh, made me glad
writin' down, all they knew
gettin' high on jazz that was mad.

Between the hippies and the beats
I found Jack was my best friend
he walked down those bluesy streets
may his stories never end!
