Jack In A Sonnet Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

Jack In A Sonnet

Rating: 5.0

In my garden, sun's magnificence filled
Jack seedling rising out of it's embodiment
To a healthy and sturdy being, in my dream
one day coming of age, gives out few fruits
to my overwhelming joy; albeit, alas!

Failing to satisfy my desires, genuine
of quality parameters; choice is mine
Years through, yielded more fruits, of its own
of shattered liking, in my fretted mind

Garden fauna, however, enjoyed fruits
I enjoyed their shrills and quarrels
After a while, of ignorance and indifference
a ripened fruit, suddenly at my feet, smiling
sounded, as if, I am to be questioned.......!
