Jerusalem Poem by Peter Eliastam

Jerusalem

O lamented City, labelled Sodom
Surnamed Egypt, terrible your woes!
In you was crucified your True Shalom.
Humanism machinates your death-throes.
Israel forgets who stoned your prophets,
And murdered those whom God has sent to you.
Islamic foes raise moslem minarets
Upon your sanctuaries, to rile the Jew.
Confederated Gentile world deceit
Idolatrously plots its wicked ends.
Soon will it wallow at Messiah’s feet
And own Christ’s servants as its truest friends.
For these are they who hold Jerusalem
Their special joy. Revere and pray for them.
