Jerusalem Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Jerusalem

Bless Jerusalem Town of towns
Stretch forth your hand and sing
Be loyal in her ups and downs
And praise her coming King

Bless Abraham God’s chosen seed
Jacob and Isaac too
That Heaven will meet their children’s need
Each day God gives anew

Bless our Father’s Promised Land
Her mountains streams and dales
Until her Saviour comes to stand
And still her stormy gales

Bless Israel’s scarred troubled zone
Each crippled ailing soul
Pray God would hear her heartfelt groan
And make in spirit whole

Bless the city of Jesse’s son
Raise hands and eyes above
Till all her trials on earth are won
Bestow on her your love

Bless all the mounds of Galilee
Each vale on Jordan’s flow
The sun bleached soil around the sea
That fruits of love may grow

Bless the town where Jesus died
That peace and joy would reign
That love be now so multiplied
So Christ can come again

Blessing the old to bless the new
Brings perfect love’s release
Brings forth salvation for the Jew
And those who bless her peace
