Jim Dunne He Was Waving Poem by Francis Duggan

Jim Dunne He Was Waving

Jim Dunne he was waving it is facebook told me
But from where could not say since him i could not see
Was it from Murphy's Terrace near the Town of Millstreet
Many years have gone by since him i last did meet

Jim Dunne was a boy when i was a young man
His journey in life in Murphy's Terrace began
He now is a few decades past his life's prime
Eventually we all become victims of time

A quiet spoken fellow the likeable Jim
I only hope that life has been good to him
One of the nice people of the Town of Millstreet
In green old Duhallow where the waterways meet

When i last met Jim Dunne he was with Ted Cleary his friend
In Jimmy Cronin's Holiday House in Millstreet Town's West End
On going back the Seasons a long time ago
Perhaps some four decades this well may be so

The good memories live on of the what used to be
Jim Dunne he was waving though him i did not see
He is one i remember from Seasons long gone
And though time is our master the good memories live on.
