Johnny Isakson Poem by Saiom Shriver

Johnny Isakson

A million chickens
suffocate in the heat
of a Georgian metal shed factory
farm when the electricity
goes out.
Isakson helped make
it a crime
to film their suffering
and their homes of slime.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Johnny Isakson was one of 4 Republican senators
(2 from Georgia and 2 from Oklahoma)
to introduce a bill which criminalized
the nonviolent filming of slaughterhouses,
animal torture laboratories, factory farms
etc. by animal protectors, while
giving a pass to those who have
tortured billions of animals.

The bill was the Animal Enterprise
Terrorism Act.

Since its passage, so called Ag Gag
bills have been declared unconstitutional.

Isakson is running for reelection.
Georgia, please replace him.
