Joining The Diaspora Poem by Justine Camacho Tajonera

Joining The Diaspora

I had a dream last night
about being pulled
by the waves,
clawing into the water
and drawing out a raft
that became a boat
that became soil
beneath my feet.

This morning, upon waking
I felt the slight rocking
of the sea
and listened for
the sound of the earth's crust
breaking
the sound of a continent
approaching.
