Journey Down The Rugged Road Poem by Zora Zorsia

Journey Down The Rugged Road

I asked Him to show me His power, glory and goodness, instead he took
me on a journey:

The road is long, crooked, lonesome
An adventure even the self proclaimed adventurers wouldn't dare

It's the road not too frequently traveled
The thorny weeds gracing the path proves it
It's a no return journey
The one way stamp He put on me says it

I drink from the streams of sorrow on the roadsides
Eat from the trees of difficulty
Breath in the bitter air
Which often chokes me

A daily battle between the will and the flesh
An experience of a daily Armageddon,
Today must be the last day, I keep saying
Wishing it would be
Wishing He'd send a chariot to carry me away
Only to wake up to the cries of crickets
As if they are telling my lodge with them is over
Get on with it

Don't look back, don't look ahead
It's no use
The road is crooked
You can only see as far as the next corner

I guess I'll have to hold on to that tinsy winsy bit of hope that
someday I will see His goodness, even in the land of the living!

And it'll taste the sweetest, in light of all this suffering!
