Just A Skimmer Poem by Susan Williams

Just A Skimmer

Rating: 5.0

Just a skimmer
flitting around the home pond
just a skimmer
...dipping here and darting there
weaving through the pussy willows
breezing over the lily pads
in its flighty zippidy-doo-dah manner
flipping back and forth
like life is a boring book
whose pages can be leafed through
and only the occasional word be read
.
Just a skimmer
...rushing here and there
and back and forth
to get the lay of the land
in general
not going deep
where seaweeds grow tall and tangled
where the big-mouthed fish lay in wait
just a skimmer sticking to the shallows
skating over the context
tripping lightly over the issues
like a rock sent skipping over the water
.

This poem is shallow by no means! I see depth of meaning with issues being tamed by nature’s charm, the lay of the land is the threshold of your pen my friend, great poem Susan!

Within a hair's breath of tickling the surface, swift and sweet at the edge of the impossible and yet somehow in racing streamlined wonder magnificently composed a paradox of freedom and control, Exhilarating joy released for us lucky readers to lose ourselves. A skimmer indeed Zuzan!

This lovely poem engenders, a carefree, bien etre (well being) and the simple enjoyment of nature and life. Just being part of Nature's plain site. A tranquilizing and sweetly conceived, delight! You have a special way Of reaching the reader's soul That is deeply and enchantingly, Yours, and yours alone, It's like coming back home.
