Just In Case Poem by Richard Adams

Just In Case

Just in case death comes to me unawares,
I’d like to let you know that there’s nothing as comforting as sure and certain hope.
Nothing that you can’t see the funny side of, or the tragic;
Nothing that pulls you under so far you never come up,
Nothing so final that you can’t anticipate joy for all.
So I treasure things that float me high with happiness,
That let me glimpse simplicity through crowding complexity,
That let love grow from doubt,
These things cannot be valued - they make possibilities.
These things are simple; they are us.
