Just Plain Lost Poem by John Zeller

Just Plain Lost

The dishes are piled up in the bathtub,
she says she wants to take a shower.
She sends me out for a walk,
and says dinner will be in an hour.
I walk the streets of Jersey
I get lost along the way.
No one seems to know where I'm at.
Directions are not possible they say.
A group of children stop me
and exploit from me my name.
Now I'm lost and nameless
Closer to insane.
An hour has gone, by now I'm sure.
I do not have a watch.
Will she eat without me? I fear yes
she knows I'm just plain lost.
