Just To Be Alive Poem by Francis Duggan

Just To Be Alive

I feel grateful for every day I wake to see
Since eventually there will come a tomorrow that will not dawn for me
On how long anyone will live there is no guarantee
You may die as a child or live to die at one hundred and three
Your talents may bring you wealth, fame and success
But your life is the greatest gift you do possess
And though many people your praises may sing
On the day you will die you will lose everything
The longest lived human life in time not a very long span
So you should live for as long as you possibly can
For there may not be a paradise somewhere beyond the sky
For good souls post bodily death with wings to for to fly
A nice sunny day for to go for a drive
It is such a good feeling just to be alive.
