Justice
By: Joy Davis

Rubbing her blackened eyes
Watering from the burning smoke
Gazing around in the dim light
Charcoal and sulphur making her choke

Grasping at her cloak
Pulling it closer to her heart
Realizing she’s alone
She feels her soul falling apart

Frantically wiping
At the constant flow of tears
The cold seeping in
Enticing her unknown fears

Falling to the frozen ground
A wrenching moan comes to her ear
Struggling to discover
Another soul alive is clear

Who she does not know
Whethere or not friend or foe
Gazing into the face of her enemy
Eyes sorrowful and dark as ebony
Gasping in fright
But neither has the strength to fight
A hand is stretched out
But a cloud covers her heart, doubt
Does she have the love to give?
.. Or will she harden and not forgive

Forgiveness is a more satisfying emotion than vengeance. A lovely piece of poetry well articulated and nicely penned. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
