What use this verse, this vision
of a far-fetched sky?
that if it bewails the night;
and of pouring shadows mine eye,
e'erything but stirrs the mind,
my thought no more than the reality
of this world, by thought alone to prove,
so sickening to the bones my love,
needs no witness in thy name,
Lord of my vassalage! by thee suffice,
all that is in the heaven and earth of dappled things.
