Kakapo Poem by David Adeyemo

Kakapo

I walked in the wood at twilight
Before the moon reflected its satellite
When the sun was below the horizon
And the day was preparing to sleep
I listened to the bird's singing

And watched the trees whispering
The reptiles are crawling back to base
Except for the finely blotted bird
Alone he stood in a yellow-green plumage
Hey humankind! Whispered the flightless parrot
I am the last of my kind in this forest
Safe me from the jungle's struggle
My name is Kakapo
I need your help to live.
