Kept Distanced Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Kept Distanced

Far away and kept distanced.
From feelings pretended not to have.
Once close to have for each other.
In those times long passed.
We had vowed to forever,
Love each other the most.
But whatever it was that happened,
We made a choice.
To go our separate ways.

Far away and kept distanced.
From any attempt to reminisce what's missed.
Yet even that spark,
Striking us like a bolt of lightening.
Is difficult to wish it never happened.
With it done to forget.

And today sitting to admit,
After so many years have passed.
Not too far away and kept distanced.
Is a recognized love.
No one needs to ask,
For who it is that makes it continue...
To exist reminisce and miss.
