Kiss Of Darkness Poem by Yenum Iwenwa

Kiss Of Darkness

Darkness,
They say is the absence of light.
But this definition
Is way below what it actually means to me.

For you see,
Darkness is more than just light's absence.
For it is that which brings forth
All the darkest fears
In the minds of intelligent beings.

You see,
Each being is remind of a time
In their life when they were
Completely helpless,
When it seemed that destiny
Was out of their control.

That,
Is what true darkness is.
And that's why I was giving life.
I have become the culmination
Of the deepest and grimmest fears
Of all that have breath.

I don't need to hunt,
For it is impossible to never feel fear.
And if that's possible,
There's also powerlessness
And loss of will.

I am that,
Which will always exist in your mind
No matter the light.
I may be hidden but never to be vanquished.
Now, let me play you a symphony.
