Kiss The Scars Poem by Obed dela Cruz

Kiss The Scars

From the start, I knew there will be prickles on roses
No matter how red the young flower’s bloom might have been.
I knew for certain that amidst all the tenderness
Something to cause the stitches breeds itself on the green.

Whether you walk on desert sands or fields of summer,
There will always be something to sore along the way
And its pangs send a restless body in cold winter
Until the person expects something to come what may.

However, I want you to look up and see the sky
As you wait for the Second Promise to be unfurled.
And though your wounded heart forgot the dreams that came by,
May you see twinkling hopes beyond night clouds of this world.

I will kiss the scars that bruised your skin ‘til pain is gone,
For I already considered them Mine long ago.
Whatever happens, do not think My love is withdrawn
Because My endearments remain as each beat they grow.

I will come to take you in a place where it is calm
Then I’ll kiss the scars and cure each wound with healing balm.
