Lacrimosa Poem by Farai Simbarashe Nhambasora

Lacrimosa

Rating: 4.0

Lacrimosa we all sang,
As tears filled our eyes.
Lord shine your light upon our path,
our faith alone will not suffice.
The darkness prowls for our souls,
laying traps and snares
Plotting death and chanting spells.

Purge our souls with your light,
the burden on this yoke is beyond our might.
Alight the flame within us,
a city upon a hill cannot be hid at night.
Redeem the captured, save the lost
Lord give us the courage to stay hold and fight.

Lacrimosa we all sang,
Heads looking towards the heavens.
Lord have mercy upon our brethren,
Deception has filled the hearts of men.
Lord have mercy upon us,
the bread has now mixed with the leaven.

Lacrimosa we all sang
The sad melody echoed out and rang
In catholic convents, Orthodox monasteries & on the lips of protestant missionaries.
Tears fill our eyes,
lord shine your light within our lives,
Nothing but the truth can suffice.© Farai Nhambasora 2012
