Lagoon Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

Lagoon

An amusement park
Where thousands gather

A place of fun
In the Utah sun

Fun and laughter
A place where children gather

On the fun rides
Children have died

Puff the Dragon
Took a young life

From the roller coaster
A young girl fell to the goats below

From moments of joy
To moments of dread

Children who have entered
Have ended up dead

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
A bit morbid, but true. A six year boy died 30 April 1989 killed by 'Puff the Little Dragon' kiddie roller coaster ride. I was there that bright sunny day. On 9 July 1989, a thirteen year old girl fell to her death from the roller coaster ride to the goat pens below.

Sounds like that place should be shut down!

A new ride has opened up at Lagoon, Farmington, Utah. It is named appropriately, Cannibal. I view it with dread, so stay off of it if you value your head.

Plus, someone had a leg severed on one of the rides years ago, and another lost an arm (I think that was on the Wild Mouse) , thus inspiring the joke: How much does it cost to go to Lagoon? answer: An arm and a leg.
