Laila And Majnu Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

Laila And Majnu

Is this the treatment
Subjected to
Lovers,
Lovers
Madly in love,
Love with
Each other?

Is this love,
Is this our society
And its rules and conventions,
How have we treated,
Were they lovers
Or prisoners of war,
Jail-birds,
Criminals or convicts?

Is to love a crime,
Is to be a lover is to be a criminal,
How can it be,
Say you?
Gentleman, change your mind-set,
Your oldie ideas!

They are a pair
Will remain a pair,
A couple
Will remain a couple,
They are lovers,
Lovers,
Laila and Majnu,
Majnu and Laila,
Disturb them not,
Disturb you not please!
