Lament Poem by Licio Marfisi

Lament

Rating: 5.0

On nights like these I held her in my arms. I kissed her greatly under the infinite sky.
Her intrepid deep browm eyes invigorated my existence, and she lashed my blood with her trail of fire.
Oh, I reflected, may your silhouette never dissolve on the beach; may your eyelids never flutter into the empty distance.
It seems as though it was yesterday, oh flesh, my own flesh, woman whom i loved and lost. Tell me that your sweet love hasn't died.
I summon you in the moist hour, I raise my song to you.
The night is fractured. It is the hour of departure, the hard cold hour.
Oh how I loved her.
My old burried sorrows emerge.
Love is brief; forgetting lasts so long.
Let me weep hours, days, years.
Perhaps I awaken.
