Lament To Percy Shelley, (1792 – 1822) Poem by Kevin Condron

Lament To Percy Shelley, (1792 – 1822)

Rating: 4.5

To feel the wind, the rain, the sun
And pause to watch a starlit sky
And wake to sounds of singing birds
To live a life before we die

Yet time goes past and we are blind to see
Including me
Cherished love, rare beauty
All too often missed
And unlike you we grow old
The rich have comfort, the poor have always pain

You died so young, but still you shine so bright
A vision for mankind, a guiding light
That we may follow and yet too seldom do
Wisdom without love cannot flourish

A destiny of darkness, unless we think like you

Lovely tribute to Percy Shelley in honour of his great contribution to the world of poetry short life span. I greatly honour his work OZYMANDIAS - a masterpiece and a piece of great elegance, probably my best poem of all times. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
