Last Dance Poem by J.D Lynch

Last Dance

I am clean, I am no longer spiraling away
No more falling, no more calling my way
Today is the last time I say this is the last day
As you waltz away in life's segue
And end what began on Columbus Day
When I all I wanted was to hear what you would say

No more will Dear Prudence come out to play
No more will I get to watch her crochet
No more to fear fortune, family, or foreigners invade
That was all in twenty-seven yesterdays
What started when I met her in the month of May
Has ended with a quick breakaway
