Last Summer Poem by Genevieve Lilith Vesta

Last Summer

As the sun beats down,
the heat astounds me.
My heart has me wound,
I’m still in love with you.

The warmth takes me back,
when we started out.
We were friends,
that became something more.

In my mind I was with him,
in my heart, I was with you.
You and him were friends,
that is why you and I had to end.

Our love was never told,
that summer long ago.
Our love was let out,
but we had to hold it in.

The sun and warmth will always
make me dream,
that someday we can
begin again.
