Last Words Poem by Anastasia Wofford

Last Words

If I knew that I,
Were going to die.
If I knew the way,
The time and the day.
I would want to tell my son,
“Not to worry what the world has done.
Remember this, my dear, ”
Then I would whisper in his ear:
“Don’t forget to say your prayers at night,
For God is always by your side.
Wash your hands before you eat,
Keep your face clean and neat.
When you get old enough to be in school,
Don’t be a bully, and don’t be a fool.
Help your Na Na with her chores,
Help your Paw Paw while outdoors.
And when you grow up and fall in love,
Be good to her, I’m watching from above!
You don’t get a second chance at life,
So don’t worry about the pain and strife.
Don’t wear your heart on your sleeve,
There are those out there who wish to thieve.
This is the most important one,
Never forget, I Love You Son! ”
