Later Life Poem by Phil Soar

Later Life

Where rivers flow and rain pours down
Beneath the ocean where lost souls drown
In a world of regrets when the memory fades
And our thoughts and fears and hope degrades

In times when forgiveness is all that's required
Why do some folk falter after they have retired?
Maybe it's the loss of a purpose in life
Or more of the same and the trouble and strife

So I sit with this loneliness close by my side
No matter that I have no feelings inside
And the pain and resentment of how my life flew
Without ever knowing what it put me through
