Lay Still Fox, You Have A Home Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Lay Still Fox, You Have A Home

I swiftly opened the door to her heart,
I called out, only to hear the sound of my own voice,
I didn't mind it as I kept myself company,
Without regret, I found myself answering my own questions,
Curious to where she was,
I made my way up the steps that sat in front of me,
A long sprialing staircase,
With a welcome mat before the stairs staring me in my eyes,
I couldn't help but smile as it matched her personality well,
How easy it was to miss as it caught me by surprise.
I began to walk up the steps admiring the pictures on the wall,
The small cracks that indented the wall. some bigger than others.
Hopefully my hand rubbing across them helped ease the pain as it didn't take focus off the pictures that hung against the wall.
My steps were careful. Almost Quiet like as I looked back with my echoing hello. Awaiting her face.
Still she never showed up.
I missed her, the sound of her voice. Those big eyes that made you want to smile even on the worst of days,
My feet climbed the steps with ease hand gripping the rail in front of me. Walking the staircase.
Searching for her face,
God wouldn't pour salt into my wounds. Not like this.
Half way up the stairs.
Closely approaching the top,
My eyes widen when I made it to the top.
The view there was amazing.
Breathtaking.
Two windows with a view to the world, she saw as fit.
I thought I've seen sight before
The different scenes the world had to offer, but my eyes were glued to these windows,
Lost as breath inside the wind gently soaring.
I turned around to a hand on my shoulder.
Welcomed with a smile as she appeared,
With a chesire grin ear to ear.
Welcoming me to her heart, to her world
