Lemonade Love Poem by Jessica Penner

Lemonade Love

Rating: 4.0

Love is something that binds and it holds,
tying together two as a whole.
It's something that helps you find joy in the rain,
acts as a cushion when life sends you pain.
It's love that forgets he tracked mud on the floor,
but love that remembers to go to the door,
to welcome her hard-working husband, who
feels tired, dirty, hungry, and blue.
He comes in the house, looks in her eyes
and away the feeling of blue swiftly flies!
He finds strength in the smile she willingly gives
and tenderly asks how her day is.
"It WAS going fine! " she says, starting to cry,
"Until i made supper! I truly did try!
But the meat that I grilled burned beyond recognition
and the potatoes are still in a rock hard condition!
The veggies will soon be cooked into mush!
The cake I tried baking is NOT moist and lush!
So I'm sorry, but I guess I'll just have to confess
I don't know what's for supper! It's all a big mess! "
Tears run down her face, her shoulders are slumped
She feels defeated and down in the dumps.
But he loves her, and so, forgetting his need,
Says, "Let's make it together, just you and me."
They start working together and soon laugh and talk,
They have lots of fun, past troubles forgot.
Love is the something that changes the air
and makes lemonade when the lemons are there!
cause life is just like that. its not all perfected
some good intentions don't turn out as expected
"I feel awful, " he says, scratching his head,
but you know your rosebush in your flowerbed? "
His face looks sheepish and just a bit red.
"It looks really sickly and prob'ly is dead."
"You mean the pink one just starting to bloom? "
with suspicion, she warily questions her groom.
"Ya, I went to check the weeds I had sprayed
and noticed the leaves have a sick yellow shade.
I'm sure that I've killed it. I'm sorry, " he sighs.
"It might come back in awhile, " she replies.
"Unless you sprayed Round-up directly upon it."
"Well, I sure didn't mean to and that's definite!
But the weeds were growing right close over there
and I made sure that i gave them their share! "
"Oh, well, that's ok. I'll forgive you, " she sighs
"it's only a rosebush that might have to die."
And there, you can see, it's the love deep within
that helps them forgive each other again.
It's love that comes home just any old day
carrying a lovely, gorgeous bouquet!
"It's beautiful! I love it! But why? Just for so? "
"Well. cause i love you and thought you should know."
May your love be like that, forgiving and kind
to each others faults, may you always be blind.
In your home, may you always place God at the first,
through the best of the good times and also the worst.
May the sun shine brightly on more days than not
the rain fall gently and then not a lot.
May you find happiness in each others smiles
and gladly and willingly walk the next mile.
May your meals all turn out and your roses keep living
As forward you go, may your hearts keep on giving.
May your life be filled with a love that's complete
making you happy, content, and at peace.
