Lend Me… Poem by C Richard Miles

Lend Me…

Lend me your ears so I can whisper soft
And tell you what I really mean to say.
Lend me your eyes so I can look aloft
And watch for clouds that threaten us with grey.
Lend me your hand so we can, side by side,
With confidence, stride on life’s winding road.
Lend me your strength, whose shoulders broad and wide
Can help us both to carry sorrow’s load.
Lend me your lips so I can feel your kiss
Which softly reassures me of your love.
Lend me your mind so I know what it is
You think of me and what is the next move.
Lend me your heart? No – it would be too much;
Just let’s be friends but still lend me your touch.
