Lessons Learned Poem by Katrina Lusk

Lessons Learned

I have never had anyone
that I could count on.
I've been disappointed
time and time again.
Then you walked into my life
and all of that came to a quick end.
You see I thought I fell in love before,
but now I know that was pure infatuation.
With You everything is completely different.
I know I have said this before,
again and again.
But I want you to remember
exactly what for.
You have opened up my eyes,
reality is nothing compared
to what I had imagined.
You have taught me so many lessons
and because of them,
I have become a better person.
You have made me realize
that inthis life I am stronger;
stronger than I believe.
That the only judge
in my life is me.
You tell me it's okay
to not be perfect.
Everyone makes mistakes,
you just have to learn from it.
There are only a select few
in this world that you can trust.
you have to figure out who they are,
then you will know just who to go to.
So hold your words tight
and never get too close.
You have showed me that it's normal
to have a life full of happiness,
instead of a handful of sorrow.
A relationship isn't anything
if there is nothing to fight for.
Just like a car without gasoline,
it is bound to go no where.
Or perhaps like the Auto Tech reminder
of a KISS.
To always keep it simple stupid!
Life isn't just an open door,
there will be obstacles and trials ahead.
you have to remember
exactly what your head was made for.
I don't know what my life
has in store.
But neither do You,
maybe that's why we're the perfect two.
I ask the questions,
and you give the answers that I never knew.
So as long as you're by my side,
I'm sure that in this world I will survive.
