Lest We Forget Poem by Jodie Hardy

Lest We Forget

Sometimes we take our freedom for granted,
Though we know it doesn't come for free.
We live in debt to those who serve,
Those we love but cannot see.
In years gone by, and as we speak,
They make a promise, they swear to keep-
To keep us safe: and keep us free.
The cost? Their likes, their loves and lives,
So we keep them fresh in our minds.
On this day and every other, we remember-
The veterans of yesteryear who paved the way,
Our brave soldiers fighting for a safer today:
And a secure tomorrow.
We will never forget the soldiers who risk it all for us.

Lest we forget.
