Let Me Poem by Michael Timothy Rose

Let Me

Let me
Captivate you
In images
You remind me

The cold, dusty step
A novel
I have not read,
Cities and skylines
Lights trapped in the stripless
Horizon, sun lost
Before dawn on
A night without rain,
Keys shackles the reminder
Of black leggings you wore
Before the day we left
For Magellan in
A Chevrolet rocket ship
Around our world, I once
Knew her name
Before
Mars, on Mercury, on Venus, on Earth
We once spoke.

I knew, once,
The sounds of guns before a race.
