Let Me Tell You What Teachers Make Poem by Daya Nandan

Let Me Tell You What Teachers Make

Some people underestimate a teacher's importance,
Without knowing how lost would the world be in their absence,
How vital their work is to shape the society around,
How the knowledge they bestow lifts poverty from the ground,

They wonder what could children possibly learn,
From someone who picked a path of teaching as a means to earn,
Someone who decided their best option in life was to be a teacher,
A choice to be homework evaluator, a student preacher,

They mock the salary of a teacher's honest earning,
Overlooking the fact that it is the next generation is learning,
So much from the teachers who dedicate their lives for a better place,
Teachers create the foundation of wise and good men upon earth's face,

Yet some still have the audacity to mockingly ask what do teacher's make,
Teacher's make our mistakes become the stepping stones that we take,
Teacher's make students work harder then they ever taught they could,
Teacher's make kids to say sorry and mean it when they truly should,

They make parents see their kids for what they are and what they can be,
They make kids read and write, they give children the key,
Tools and skills to access and understand the vast knowledge of this world,
They bring out curiosity and a thirst for knowledge to every boy and girl,

Teachers make students question and criticise, they build wings for the mind,
They give flight to the imagination, give vision to the ignorant and blind,
Through their teachings, the next generation sees a vast world before them,
These educators water and fertilise the minds of youth for ideas to stem,

Teacher's have taught countless people of the many secrets that knowledge holds,
Expanded countless minds, guided lost potential and high spirited souls,
For them its not about money or gold, its about inspiring minds to brilliance
So let me tell you what teachers make, teachers make a god damn difference!
