Leviathan Poem by Maurice Rowlands

Leviathan

From my island
I dive into the ocean

beyond the beauty
of the jelly fish

they sting
but Poseidon
will sing
of his mastery
and bring some relief

our good chief

Davy Jones my friend
I’ll dive beyond
Your wreck
And check
That the mermaids
Or the Leviathan
Aren’t scouring your decks
For your ghost

Make the most
Of the sea
Raise your tankard
and toast

To the wonders
I’ll find down below
As I dive

I’m alive
And can see
That the world
Beneath
Can only be seen

By me
