Lgbt Poem by Holly Jamestone

Lgbt

What is LGBT
My wide-eyed child might ask
And as a mother I'd be proud
To be up to the task

With open arms I'd sit him down
Examining the meaning
My arm around his shoulder
As slowly he was gleaning

L is to remind us
There is love in all directions
We're equal and must recognize
There are no soul transgressions

G is goodness everywhere
If we just pay attention
We're all the same as human beings
No matter our dimension

B is our benevolence
Embracing all we meet
An understanding of all life
No need for self-defeat

T is tolerance gender-wise
And Lesbians, Gays, or Bi's
Are all of like significance
Beneath God's golden skies

All matter, all are vibrant
Our cores are quite the same
No need to judge, to criticize
Or play a bully's game

LGBTH
Is truly who we are
And heterosexuals must embrace
We're part of the same star

A five-point star, one prong for each
All souls and hearts akin
Where being who one truly is
Would never be a sin

Five points intertwined
No one less than the others
A patchwork of humanity
Our sisters and our brothers
