Libertine Girl Poem by Jay Burger

Libertine Girl

The rain falls
Like tears
From the oceans
That are your eyes,
And I can only wonder
If you are thinking of me
As well tonight,
As my thoughts try to
Ramble through your mind,
As they seek out the
Kindred feelings
In our souls…
I can only imagine
The tolls
That my heart will
Have to take
For my idolatry
Of you,
My longing,
Needing, and
Desire of the
Deepest recesses of your
Heart,
For your disowned self
To break through,
To shower me with
The adoration it
Once flaunted
Behind closed doors…
As the cloudburst
Continues,
I too shed tears
For my sweet
Libertine girl…
Beloved,
Why have you
Forsaken me?
