You always said
How funny it was to have life one moment
And nothing the next
You said that you needed to speed along with life
Not against it
You needed to pretend to have a good time
Even though you felt dead and alone on the inside
Then you started having more dates and parties
You started getting more of everything
And you couldn't handle it all
You would come home and complain
About how your life was a mess
So you would drink to try and take the pain away
So you wouldn't feel anything
You drank all the time but I never told on you
But I guess I should have told someone
Then you wouldn't have been going so fast tonight
Because your mind would have been clear
You wouldn't have crashed
You wouldn't have died
I'll tell Mom and Dad that you said good-bye
