Life Poem by Michelle Tiddy

Life

Rating: 5.0

When you dip your toes in the water of life
Does it excite you? Does the tingle flood you
Right up to the heart and around your mind
Like a whitewater rapid ride? Or is it scary?
Do you want to look down, or close your eyes
And hide away from its impetus?

Does every taste, of every day fill you with hope
Or, does it make your dreams go up in smoke
Do you jump into the vortex of happiness
Or search for the glooms of despair
Wondering what you'll find there.. dark?
Or does the sunshine flood your soul with a spark?

Do you wish you could sing the birdsong...
Fly to the moon and dive to the earth
Drink in the nuances of life, with a greedy thirst
Grasp every moment and make it your own
Savour each sensation that's to man known
And search for those yet to be discovered?

A proverbial box of chocolates, this life..
Hard centres, soft, the magical wonder when
You bite hard into the sinful pleasures and
Close your eyes as you open your soul to experience
And new pleasures, new finds, new beginnings
Do you close your chapters on this journey with regret?

Or do you rush headlong into the next....
Reading the last page before it's played itself out?
Writing the story, before it's fulfilled
Its destiny, making it what you want it to be
Writing history, before it's happened...
Or maybe you stand back, and look, and feel...

Excitment, joy, pain and grief, we all bare
When we delight in the miracles of being
When we look, really deep and find we're seeing
When we listen very hard and realise we're hearing
When we touch and fireworks explode because we're feeling
When we reach out and cradle anothers heart

Well this is thought provoking and excellently expressed.....I have to say a little bit of both, some yes's and some no's...Time to look at life's offerings from a different perspective, thinks me.. thanks, Em. marci. :)
