Life. Poem by Kayla Bryant

Life.

Don't the best in life, just bleed it out?
When everything gets so hard just work it out?
Some things can't be fixed again, I wore it out,
I can't explain what I'm feeling but I'll say it out loud.
Pretending everything is okay, won't make it better,
telling me lies to hide the truth won't make the truth go away.
Saying things with your fingers crossed won't make the scars heal,
numbing the pain with cigarettes won't make the pain less real,
I can hear the screaming of the silence shouting at me,
in this empty room it's still so deafening loud.
Don't the best in life, act it out?
Play it fake to help work this out?
It doesn't change the fact that were crumbling down,
it doesn't pull us out of the ditch that's deeper now.
I can't help myself, neither can you.
You don't have to make up stories,
I already know the truth.
