Life And Death Poem by Khairul Ahsan

Life And Death

Rating: 5.0

Life and Death are twin siblings;
Life moves ahead, Death follows.
Life is palpable;
Can be felt and visibly perceived.

Death is a silent companion,
Appears from behind only once in a lifetime
To take Life away and disappear together,
Leaving behind a cold corpse.

Life is perceived as being warm,
A rhythmic throb that goes on and on.
Death is imagined as a cold shiver
That comes to put at rest the rhythm forever.

Acknowledgement: The idea of 'twin siblings' originated from one of the comments of poet Marie Shine, which she made in one of my posts on my Facebook wall. Grateful to her for providing me this food for thought.
